Prosecution under Income Tax Act – Need to de-criminalise certain offences

As part of improving the ease of doing business, a host of measures has been proposed to decriminalise various provisions of the Companies Act, 2013. A committee constituted to review offences under the Companies Act in its report submitted in August, 2018 recommended recategorization of certain offences as acts carrying civil liabilities.
